Gary R. Savage Sr.

1942 – 2009

BETHEL — Gary R. Savage Sr., 67, of Bethel, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 18.

He was born in Lancaster, N.H., on Feb. 2, 1942, the son of Norman M. And Lucille (Dupuis) Savage and was educated in Lancaster schools.

Gary had worked at Bob’s Exxon and Hanson Service Station in Rumford for many years; owned and operated the Route 232 Texaco Service Station and Body Shop; Septic Tank Servicing & Porta John Rentals; owned the franchise for Geodesic Dome Homes in Maine, Savages Commercial Cleaning in Jacksonville, Fla., and retired from Sysco Food in March of 1998 due to ill health. Gary was known for buying and selling many things.

He married Sandra J. Blay on Sept. 10, 1960, and enjoyed 49 wonderful years together. Gary also enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. His family adored him and will miss him greatly.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sandra J. Savage, of Bethel; four sons, Keith and his wife, Penny, of Bethel, Gary Jr. of Portland, Rick and his wife, Sarah, of Bethel, and Ronald and his wife, Cindy, of Bethel; three  daughters, Nancy Gionet and her husband, Mike, of Bethel, Kelly Helms and her husband, Andy, of Bryant Pond, and Jessica Boyd and her husband, Carlos, of Bethel; two brothers, Karl and his wife, Pam, and Jeff, all of Manchester, N.H.; five sisters, Diane Hallenburt and her husband, Bob, of Contoocook, N.H., Norma-Lou Savage of Manchester, N.H., Karlene Savage of Manchester, N.H., Margaret Savage of Epsom, N.H. and Lisa Savage of Limestone; 17 grandchildren, Kelly Jones and her husband, Roy, of Lewiston, AWS2 (NAC/AW) Michael Gionet Jr of Virginia Beach, Va., Heather Gionet of Bethel, Keith Savage Jr. of Bethel, Allen Savage of Bethel, Rick Savage Jr. of Bethel, Ryan Savage of Bethel, Randy Savage of Atlanta, Ga., Taylor Savage of Bethel, Ashley Savage of Bethel, Tim Savage of Bethel, Stephanie Savage of Bethel, Monica Helms of Portland, Alex Helms of Bethel, Dylan Helms of Bryant Pond, Rachael Boyd of Bethel. and Luke Boyd of Bethel; four great-grandchildren, Cailyn Gionet of Camden, Joshua Gionet of Camden, Madison Jones of Lewiston, and Annabelle Jones of Lewiston; as well as dozens of other loving family members.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Dennis and David Savage; and a sister-in-law, Doris Savage.
