Christmas Eve
SOUTH PARIS —
The Christmas Eve service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24. The service will be lead by Marilyn Hammond, readers from the congregation, the choir, Terry Twitchell, soloist, Renee Wales, flutist and Forest Perkins, organist. Readings and traditional carols will constitute the service. All are welcome.
Bridge play
NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met on Dec. 18 in the Fare Share Building, Main Street. A four table Howell movement was played.
Finishing first in flight A were Denny Raymond and Pete Cummings; second,
Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, Dennise Whitney and Nancy
Farmer.
Finishing first in flight B were Arlene Riis and Bob Clifford; second,
Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; third, Suzanne Andrews and Carol
Curran.
The next game will be played at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8. A partner is guaranteed and parking is available in the rear. For information,

Christmas Eve services
SOUTH PARIS — First Congregational Church will offer two services on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24. At 7 p.m., the service will have music by Virginia Noble and the church choir as
well as soloists Ed Gabrielsen and Eric Hanson. The Rev.
Don Mayberry’s sermon will focus around the closeness of God.
At 11:30 p.m., there will be a quiet candlelight service of carols and
prayers and Mayberry’s sermon will speak about being receivers of God’s
gifts. Communion will be served at both services.
On Sunday, Dec. 27, the 10 a.m. worship will be based around carols

Sunday sermon
SOUTH PARIS — “New Clothes” will be Silver Moore-Leamon’s sermon topic at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St. The service will include music by Forest Perkins, organist and the choir. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday School. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Child care is provided and everyone is welcome.
Candlelight service
OXFORD — A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, at Oxford Advent Christian Church, Route 26. The story of Jesus’ birth will be presented through scripture readings and carols against a specially painted backdrop representing the Judean hillside, the city of Bethlehem and the stable. All are invited to the service.
