AUBURN — The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston is offering a lifeguard certification course to be held the weekends of Jan. 9, 10, and 16, 17. Saturday classes will run from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday classes will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Participants must be at least age 15 before the end of the course, complete a 300-yard swim and retrieve a 10-pound training brick.

Upon completion of the course the lifeguarding and first aid certifications are valid for three years, and the CPR expires after one year.

Course fee is $195 for YMCA members and $235 for non-members. Registration is open and but class size is limited. Register at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, 62 Turner St. The YMCA may also have space for those needing to recertify in CPR or lifeguard/first aid.
