We are wondering why the Sun Journal photographers always manage to capture good pictures of the boys’ hockey teams but not the girls’?

On Dec. 27, there were three pictures of Lewiston High School boys’ hockey, but not one of the LHS girls’, who also won their game. The write-up for the girls was nice, but why don’t the girls’ teams get equal photos? Is it just because they are girls?

Let’s not forget that girls’ hockey is up and coming; and the girls play and work just as hard as the boys. They should get equal time in the paper. All teams are deserving, whether boys’ or girls’ teams, but the Sun Journal is helping to make girls’ hockey less important than the boys’.

We are supporters of all hockey teams and attend many games, whether it is the Maineiacs, Junior Maineiacs or boys’ or girls’ hockey.

We feel all students deserve recognition. And, by the way, the LHS ladies were the state champions last year.

Support all the young athletes.
