LEWISTON — The Jesus Party urban youth outreach will kick-off 2010 with three special evenings focusing on foreign missions. The ministry will show a series of animated 30-minute age-appropriate documentaries called “The Torchlighters, Heroes of the Christian Faith.”

The gatherings will take place at 6 p.m. Fridays, Jan. 15 to 29, at the Jesus Party Headquarters, 291 Bates St. Children ages 5 and up are welcome.

Friday, Jan. 15, “The Gladys Aylward Story” will be shown on the missionary who helped more than 100 orphans escape through war-torn China. A little woman with big faith, she set out on a 100-mile trek leading orphans over difficult mountain terrain to a safe haven.

Friday, Jan. 22, “The John Bunyan Story” will be aired. It is the true story of the author of the “Pilgrim’s Progress.” He takes a stand against an established state religion and is imprisoned for his faith and separated from his family.

Friday, Jan. 29, “The William Tindale Story” will be shown. Tindale topped King Henry VIII’s most wanted list in 1535. His crime was translating the Bible into English for the common people.
