Mt. Abram 46, Madison 45
MADISON — Although they nailed a shot at the buzzer from downtown that some felt was a three-pointer, officials called it a two-point basket and Madison came up just one point shy of Mt. Abram, 46-45, in MVC boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

Jim Barker led the Roadrunners (2-7) with 22 points, including 11 in the fourth period and five from the charity stripe. Tyler Hupper chipped in with 11 points in what was basically a two-man attack. 

Madison (2-7) was paced by Nick moody with an 18-point performance, while Ian Hartigan tallied eight points and hauled down 13 rebounds. 

St. Dom’s 59, Monmouth 56
AUBURN — Despite a late-game rally by Monmouth, St. Dom’s managed to hang on for a 59-56 victory over Monmouth in more local boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Saints (5-4) received 18 points from Peter Keeney, while Kurt Johnson chipped in with 12 and Nathan Poulin added 10 in a well-balanced attack. 

Robby Neal led the mighty Mustangs (5-4) with a solid 16-point effort, while Tim Whittemore tallied 13 and Cory Dyke added 12.   Georges Valley 50, Lisbon 40

THOMASTON – Ben Wallace scored seven of his 15 points in the fourth quarter Wednesday night, and Georges Valley pulled away for a 50-40 MVC boys’ basketball win over Lisbon.

Dylan Maloney, Alex Grierson and Wallace each sank a pair of free throws in the final period to help the Buccaneers (4-5) expand what was a five-point lead. Maloney concluded with 12 points.

Scott Eck led all scorers with 18 points for the Greyhounds (0-9).

Leavitt 11, Windham 0
TURNER — Cooper Legee registered a hat trick Wednesday to propel Leavitt to a 11-0 rout over Windham in local boys’ hockey action.

Josh Chouinard, Tyler Hutchinson, Ben Hartman, Nick Urkhart, Eliza Lamode and Cory Mulhern also scored for the Hornets (3-3) to complete the scoring. Leavitt jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the first period and was never challenged. Cody Violette turned back all 10 shots fored in his direction to notch the shutout.

Heath Howell faced 46 shots between the pipes for Windham and did quite well to stop 35 of them.

Georges Valley 50, Lisbon 40

THOMASTON – Ben Wallace scored seven of his 15 points in the fourth quarter Wednesday night, and Georges Valley pulled away for a 50-40 MVC boys’ basketball win over Lisbon.

Dylan Maloney, Alex Grierson and Wallace each sank a pair of free throws in the final period to help the Buccaneers (4-5) expand what was a five-point lead. Maloney concluded with 12 points.

Scott Eck led all scorers with 18 points for the Greyhounds (0-9).
