Family night

LISBON — A family reading night will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Lisbon Community School. Readers will include Charlotte Agell,
author of “I Swam with a Seal” and “Dancing Feet.” Pizza and drinks will be provided. Kids ages 2 to 7 can wear pajamas and there will be games in the gym for older siblings.

USDA meeting

LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District
will host a meeting of the Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties USDA
Local Working Group from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the
USDA Service Center, 254 Goddard Road.

Local Working Groups assist the USDA Natural Resources Conservation
Service in matters relating to the implementation and technical aspects
of conservation programs under Title II of the Food, Conservation and
Energy Act of 2008 (2008 Farm Bill).

The meeting is open to the public. A reservation is required. For
reservations or more information, call Jane Heikkinen at 753-9400, ext.
400. Those who have special needs in order to attend the meeting should
call Heikkinen.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Jan. 5 were as follows: first, Luke Merry and Sherrie Hinckley; second, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; third/fourth tie, Jeanine Kivus and Katie Love with
Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; first in B, Roger Labbe and Larry Fortier; second in B, Lue Bilodeau and Alberta Turner.

Winners at Schooner Estates on Jan. 6 were: first, John Hackett and Les Buzzell; second, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; third, Rosemarie Goodwin and Mary Leahey.

Pinochle standings

LEWISTON — The Multi-Purpose Senior Pinochle League has announced the standings after 16 weeks. Games: first, Carmen Charest, 58 points; second, Steve Agurkis, 57 points; third, three players tied, 56 points. Washes: first, Carmen Charest, 6; second, Maurice Morrisette, 6; third, two players tied, 6.

Games are played at 1 p.m. Thursdays.
