William D. Parquette Jr.
1939 – 2010

AUBURN — William D. Parquette Jr., 70, of Wales and Greene, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 8, with his family by his side.

He was born July 7, 1939, in Augusta, son of William D. and Catherine L. Harding Parquette. Bill graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1957, and joined the Army after high school. He was honorably discharged in 1962.

His friendly smile and easy-going nature is what will be missed most by all who knew and loved him. Because he enjoyed meeting new people and helping others, his choice of professions was a natural fit with his personality. He was employed as a code enforcement officer, first for the city of Lewiston and then in New Gloucester. Before that, he worked in life insurance and pharmaceutical sales, where he made several life-long friends.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. For many, many years, he traveled to his camp in Rangeley almost every weekend. He loved his peaceful camp in the woods, hunting, fishing and hanging out with his family, friends and neighbors. Later in life, he looked forward to his annual visits to Chibougamou in Canada to fish with his soul-mate, Mary Goodale. He taught all of his children to fish and to enjoy the outdoors, but it was his son, Billy and grandsons, Nick and Evan, who enjoyed it as much as he did and will continue to visit all of his old stomping grounds, walk the same trails, fish the same spots and tell the same stories about the one that got away.

His favorite charity was the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which he supported faithfully.
