Arthur W. Soucy
1921 – 2010
AUGUSTA — Arthur W. Soucy, 88, of 559 Main St., Lewiston, died Thursday, Jan. 14, at the VA Medical Center, after a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 17, 1921, the son of Alfred and Amanda Therriault Soucy. Educated in local schools, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in action.
On Sept. 3, 1949, he married the former Joan Heutz, who passed away in 1995. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a hand sewer in the local shoe industry. A member of the former St. Joseph’s Parish, he also belonged to the American legion, and for many years was an avid antique collector and dealer.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra and husband, Don Panati, of Dresden; a stepdaughter, Constance and husband, Adrian Labrie, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Shawn Cyr, Jessica Keene, Daniel Patrick, Dan Labrie and Tom Labrie; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Armand and Herve Soucy; and a sister, Cecile Soucy.
