William A. Kelly

1922 – 2010

AUBURN – William A. Kelly, 87, of Meadow Brook Terrace in Dixfield and formerly of Penobscot Street in Rumford, died Jan.16, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn, following a brief illness.

He was born in Rumford on Dec. 20, 1922, a son of Anna and William S. Kelly. Bill was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate and class president of Stephens High School, Class of 1940.

He married Elaine Whynaught Kelly on June 29, 1942, in Rumford. She predeceased him on Jan. 8, 2009, after celebrating 66 years of marriage. Bill served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II. He was employed at the Rumford Falls Power Co., for 44 years.

Bill is survived by two sons, Tom Kelly and wife, Elizabeth and Tim Kelly and wife, Martha, all of Dixfield; a daughter, Andrea Anastasio and husband, Jim, of Gardiner; six grandchildren, Tom Kelly Jr., Jennifer Murray, Jeffrey Kelly, William Kelly, Kimberly Huchel and K.J. Anastasio; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Kelly of Portland.

His wife and two sisters, Marguerite Daigle and Ruth Hricak, predeceased him.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff members at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their passionate and loving care shown to their father.
