ANDOVER — The Ellis River Riders participated in the Northeast Horsemen’s Conference 2010 on Jan. 16 and 17. They had an informational booth with door prizes and information on what the club has to offer.

Ellis River Riders has approximately 50 miles of marked trails open to the public. The trails are accessible from the club grounds on Airport Road. The trails travel through varied terrain for all levels and abilities. There are relatively flat and scenic trails, steeper trails and river crossings.

Parking for all club members is free at the grounds from spring through fall.

The club also made available its tentative 2010 schedule. Open English and Western shows will be available as well as Gymkhana. There will also be organized trail rides.

The Ellis River Riders will also hold its first versatility trail event this summer. Plans are underway for the event, in affiliation with other organizations throughout Maine.

The vice president of the club, Deb Cayer, gave a presentation on vacationing with a horse. She has firsthand knowledge of the topic and shared information about the creative idea for horse lovers to spend time with their animals.

Ellis River Riders is a family oriented club. New members are always welcome and nonmembers are welcome to participate in events. Check out www.ellisriverriders.com for an updated events schedule as the 2010 season plans are being finalized.
