Leonard E. Lidback Sr.
1921 – 2010
BOWDOIN — Leonard E. Lidback Sr., 88, of 762 Millay Road, died early Sunday, Jan. 24.
He was born in Portland, Sept. 16, 1921, a son of Edward B. and Lila M. (Doughty) Lidback. He was educated in Pejepscot and Lisbon schools.
He served in the Lighter Than Air Division of the U.S. Navy, Solomon Islands of the South Pacific during World War II as an aviation mechanic. After the war, he worked at Bath Iron Works and was a graduate apprentice in the machine shop. Later, working for Central Maine Power as a first class meter reader until his retirement in 1983.
He was a life-member of the Connelly Masonic Lodge of Lisbon Falls, and a member of Shriners, Slovak Catholic Association, American Legion and Lisbon Left Hand Club.
He loved to play cribbage. He also enjoyed working in his machine shop, spending time at his camp at Moosehead Lake, vegetable gardening, “SUPERVISION” in all family projects and visiting with friends and family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.
Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth Prosser of Spring Hill, Fla., and Delphine Boucher of Bowdoin; two sons, Kris D. Lidback and wife, Deborah, of Bowdoin and Leonard E. Lidback Jr. and wife, Maria Fatima, of Bowdoin; one daughter, Sharon T. McCollett and husband, Mark, of Bowdoin; five grandsons, Todd R. Lidback and wife, Brooke, of Newburgh, Shawn M. Lidback and wife, Jennifer, of Bowdoin, Brandt A. McCollett of Tryon, Okla., Cory A. McCollett of Bowdoin and Aziel G. Lidback of Bowdoin; one granddaughter, Kelsey A. McCollett of Bowdoin; three great-grandchildren, Isabella McCollett, Landin McCollett and Natalie Lidback; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Alberta H. (Morse) Lidback, of Bowdoin; and one brother, John B. Lidback of Mesa, Ariz.
