LEWISTON – The 17th-annual Thomas E. Lahey Bowlfest will take place Saturday, Jan. 30 at Sparetime Recreation. A total of 170 bowlers in 34 five-person teams have signed up for this year’s event.

Format will consist of three strings, with the top six teams advancing to a single-string rolloff. Team winners will be determined in both handicap and scratch divisions. Individual awards will be presented in various categories.

The Lahey Foundation was established in memory of educator Thomas E. Lahey, who died in October 1987. The foundation provides financial assistance to graduate of Lewiston, Edward Little and St. Dominic Regional high schools. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $160,000 in scholarship funds to local students.

Non-bowling friends are welcome to visit and socialize during this mid-winter reunion of the “Lahey Legion.” Last year’s champs, Team USA, will attempt to defend their title. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., followed by the start of the tournament at noon.
