LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer two free Stretch for Life yoga classes. The classes will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3 and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19.

The class will use yogic concepts to guide participants through simple, gentle stretches that will work with the body to encourage length, relaxation and balance. Participants do not need to have any prior exercise experience to join the class.

The classes will be facilitated by Kathy Peterson, RYT, M.Ed. Peterson has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years. Her focus is on integrating yoga into everyday life. Peterson, a self-proclaimed inflexible person said that she “enjoys sharing yoga with others and proving that you don’t have to be flexible to practice yoga.”

Participants should dress comfortably, wear sneakers and bring water to each class.

A six-week class session will start shortly after the free classes, on a date to be announced later. Classes for members of the YWCA are $40 for one class a week or $75 for two classes a week (six-week session). Classes for nonmembers are $59 for one class a week or $99 for two classes a week (six-week session).

Space is limited. For more information or to register, call the YWCA of Central Maine at 795-4050 or via e-mail at customerserviceywca@gmail.com.
