RUMFORD — The Rumford Eagles will have a planning meeting for the Child Advocacy Day (Mountain Valley Kids Festival) at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb 11, in the Eagles Function Hall.

The Rumford Eagles have scheduled the festival from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday, April 10. They plan to have representatives in attendance from the local police departments, fire departments, boy scouts, girl scouts, recreation departments and local youth groups.

The group is looking to sponsor a bicycle rodeo and karaoke contest, among other events, for kids. Raffle tables will be set up throughout the day. In the evening, they would like to have a karaoke contest for adults.

Any person or youth group that is interested in participating in the festival or with ideas of other activities that will benefit youth, are asked to attend the planning meeting.

All money raised at the festival will benefit participating youth groups. Ten groups participated in last year’s event and each group received $150.

Also at the meeting, the group will discuss organizing a Junior Order of Eagles Club, comprised of the children of the membership.  Anyone interested in learning about the program may attend.
