FARMINGTON — Swiftly stuffing hygiene items into plastic bags, participants in the Farmington Warming Center at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church Tuesday created kits for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Each kit contained a wash cloth, small towel, comb, nail clippers, soap, toothbrush and six Band-Aids with items donated by members of the church, the Warming Center and Farmington Friends Meeting, said the Rev. Susan Crane from HMBC.

Next Tuesday, baby kits will be assembled and both hygiene and baby kits will be sent to Church World Services, which comprises multiple Protestant denominations, she said. They will then package the boxes into large shipments to be sent to Haiti.

Some baby items are still needed, she said. Needed items include seven sweatshirts (under a 12-month size), five outfits or warm shirts and two T-shirts.

Anyone who would like to donate any of these items is asked to have them at the church by next Tuesday morning for the Warming Center participants to assemble. Each has to be rolled into a receiving blanket, she said.

For more information, please call the church at 778-2163.
