FARMINGTON — A free meeting for anyone interested in learning more about sheep and goat production will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Farmington Town Office, downstairs.

Dr. Elizabeth McEvoy, DVM, assistant Maine state veterinarian with the Maine Department of Agriculture, will discuss basic health care for these species. Andrew Beals will talk about their nutrition needs and David Averill of Farmington will present information on housing or shelter for the animals. Refreshments will be served.

The meeting is the first in a series that will showcase the health, nutritional and housing needs for various livestock species. More people are concerned about where their food comes from and are raising their own, in both plant and animal forms. Adequate knowledge is not always available, which can result in poor experiences.
