ORONO — The University of Maine announced Tuesday that 14 football recruits have signed a National Letter of Intent for the 2010-11 school year.

The list does not include any Maine high school football players, but does consist of four students from New York, four from Maryland, two from Pennsylvania, two form New Jersey, and one each from Ohio and California.

“As a football staff, we are very excited about the group of young men that have committed themselves to Black Bear football as student-athletes here at the University of Maine,” Maine coach Jack Cosgrove said in a school press release. “We feel good about having added to the quality and depth of our current football team with this group.”

The class includes:

  • Arron Achey, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound QB/LB from Newmanstown, Pa.
  • WR/DB’s Khari Al-Mateen (6-1, 185, Baltimore), Damart Aultman (5-11, 180, Wheatley Hgt., N.Y.), Patrick Pascal (5-10, 175, Greenlam, N.Y.) and Michael Mangiarelli (6-0, 185, Warren, OH).
  • TE/DE Ryan Baranowsky (6-3, 230, Moorestown, N.J.
  • RB Charles Kyeremeh, Jr. (6-1, 210, Lebanon, Pa.
  • OL/DL’s Devin Clark (6-3, 250, Baltimore), Omar Jacobs (6-2, 265, Oakland), Daniel Linares (6-4, 275, Yonkers, N.Y.), Nicholas Napurano (6-5, 248, Edison, N.J.), and Matthew Wilson (6-3, 270, Freeport, N.Y.).
  • KP Jeffrey Ondish (6-2, 185, Elkton, Md.).

“We had a great team effort throughout the recruiting process,” Cosgrove said. “Our football staff identified these talented young men, while our current players served as hosts and ambassadors of our institution. Additionally, we were supported by individuals from our campus community whose interaction with these young men was a definite factor in their decision. We are fortunate to have such great support for our faculty, staff and the students here.”

The eligibility of the players is contingent upon admission to the university and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
