SABATTUS — The Community Free Baptist Church of Sabattus has announced Russell Stewart as full-time pastor. Stewart grew up in Wales, graduated from Oak Hill High School and currently lives in Greene with his wife, Joy, and two daughters, Emily and Alissa.

He attended the Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, N.Y. for two years and then went on to graduate from Davis College with his bachelor’s degree in religious education. Prior to his role as pastor of the Community Free Baptist Church, he and his family were members of South Lewiston Baptist Church. There, he served as Deacon for a number of years.

Stewart recently closed his business, Cornerstone Heating, which he had owned for several years so he could enter the ministry full time.

It is the desire of Stewart for the church to become an integral part of the community. The church will soon be opening a food pantry that will be available to anyone that needs assistance. More information will be available as the opening of the food pantry draws closer.

The church is located on Main Street in Sabattus, and services are held at 9 a.m. Sundays, with Sunday School following at 10:30. Discovery Club, for children ages 4 to 12, is held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sundays. For more information on any of these services, call 375-4337.
