Mt. Blue 76, Skowhegan 43

FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue took charge from the opening tap and ran away for a 76-43 triumph over Skowhegan in thier KVAC season finale Thursday.

Skowhegan could only muster five points in the opening quarter as Mt. Blue (11-7) raced to a 15-5 advantage. The lead grew to 33-16 by halftime.

Cam Sennick led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Ryan Backus nearly matched that with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Hoyt chipped in with 11 points.

Matt Thistle and Lucas Fortier led the Indians (9-9) with 10 points apiece.

Leavitt 71, Oak Hill 61

TURNER – Jordan Hersom poured in 30 points and hauled down 21 rebounds to lead Leavitt past Oak Hill’s one-man attack in a 71-61 victory in their season finale Thursday.

With Leavitt holding what seemed like a comfortable 42-20 advantage at the half, Tim Levesque nearly single-handedly brought Oak Hill back in contention by scoring 35 of his team’s 41 second-half points. Levesque also sank 10 of his 11 3-pointers in the final two quarters and finished the game with 39 points.

Hersom also has a pair of blocks to go along with his strong game in the post. Lucas Witham added 12 points, 10 assists, four steals and three blocks, while Noah Poto finished with 10 points.

Dirigo 63, Jay 47

JAY – Kyle Hutchinson scored all eight of his points in the final quarter, including a pair of 3-pointers, to help Dirigo hold off Jay for a 63-47 triumph in their MVC regular-seaosn finale.

The Cougars defense limited Jay to 15 points in the first half as Dirigo doubled the Tigers’ total in the opening two quarters. Jay fought back and narrowed the deficit to six points in the third quarter before Dirigo’s brief spurt regained its double-digit lead.

Jay made one more run in the fourth, getting as close as 10 points before Hutchinson and his teammates pulled away.

Nic Crutchfield led the Cougars with 19 points, while Hutchinson and Tyler Chiasson had eight each. Zach Bonnevier, Austin Clark and Kyle Storer each scored 12 points to lead Jay.

Georges Valley 55, Lisbon 45

LISBON – Logan Cross poured in 14 points to lead Georges Valley to a 55-45 victory over Lisbon in MVC boys’ basketball action Thursday.

The Buccaneers (9-9) trailed 30-28 at the half, but bounced back with a 15-7 run in the third quarter and improved down the stretch. Dylan Maloney chipped in with 13 points for Georges Valley.

Senior guard Scott Eck grabbed a game-high 16 points for the Greyounds (2-16). Senior guard Chris Whitney contibuted 12 points for Lisbon.

Mt. Ararat 47, Oxford Hills 42

TOPSHAM – Senior guard Tyler Pelletier drained 16 points to lead Mt. Ararat to a 47-42 victory over Oxford Hills in boys’ basketball action Thursday.

The Eagles (8-10) came up with a couple of key shots to counter an attempted third quarter rally by the Vikings (7-11). Chris Kilbreth nailed down thre field goals and a pair of free throws for eight points, while Josh Walker tossed three field goals, including two from 3-point range for Mt. Ararat.

Senior forward Jake Hall recorded a game-high 18 points for Oxford Hills in the losing effort.

Buckfield 40, Sacopee Valley 26

HIRAM – Austin Dooley scored 13 points Thursday night as tournament-bound Class D Buckfield closed the regular season with a 40-26 boys’ basketball victory over Class C Sacopee Valley.

Kasey Robertson added 11 points for the Bucks (8-10). Buckfield held Sacopee (1-17) to one point in the second quarter to build a 17-8 halftime lead.

Jeff Taylor topped the Hawks (1-17) with nine points.

Mountain Valley 73, Telstar 29

RUMFORD – Junior guard Cameron Kaubris led the pack with 12 points as Mountain Valley engaged in a balanced attack to rout Telstar, 73-29, in MVC boys’ basketball action.

 Senior guard Jon Benjamin was the only other double-digit scorer for the Falcons (18-0) with 11 points to his credit. Jacob Arsenault posted 10 rebounds and eight assists, while Brady Fergola also notched 10 rebounds.

Junior guard Dan Vaughn recorded a game-high 18 points for teh Rebels (5-13) in the losing effort.

Livermore Falls 98, Carrabec 61

LIVERMORE FALLS – Seniore center Derek Castonguay tabulated 19 points and 11 rebounds to pace Livermore Falls to a 98-61 triumph over Carrabec on Thursday.

The Andies (15-3) applied a well-balanced offense and shot well ahead of their opponent in the fourth quarter with a 35-18 run. Willie Brown, Nate Michaud, Tom Ventrella and Mike Armstrong scored double-digits in descending order from 16 points down to 13 in the winning effort.

Dino Houle notched a game-high 21 points for the Cobras (5-13), while Justin Richardson produced 19 points and Aaron Lane added 18 points.

Madison 64, Mt. Abram 44

SALEM – Nick Moody scored 21 points and Cody Small added 20 Thursday, powering Madison past Mt. Abram, 64-44, in a mutual MVC boys’ basketball season finale.

The Bulldogs (3-15) used a 19-12 gain in the second quarter to accumulate a 29-18 haftime edge. Jim Barker led the Roadrunners (4-14) with 12 points. Tyler Hupper contributed 10.
