Robert C. Munce

1921 – 2010

NORWAY — Robert Cushman Munce, 88, of Norway, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 18, at Norway Rehab and Living Center after a long illness.

He was born on May 9, 1921, in Calais, the son of Clement Munce and Edelle Cushman Munce-Sturtevant. He attended South Paris High School where he enjoyed playing football and basketball, graduating in 1941. He married Doris Card on Sept. 14, 1946. Mrs. Munce died on Nov. 2, 1999.

He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force as an Airplane Mechanic from 1942 until 1946.

He worked at Wilner Wood Products for many years, and later retired from Dr. Robert Easton’s dental practice as a dental lab tech. He was a member of Oxford Lodge Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Norway for over 50 years, as well as a member of the Second Congregational Church of Norway since 1952, where he taught Sunday school, served many terms as deacon and was a custodian, retiring at the age of 84.

Mr. Munce is survived by nieces, Pam Sauer of California and Patti Helie of Utah; nephew, Tom McCready of California; many grand-nieces and nephews; caring and loving neighbor and friend, Ethel LaCourse; “adopted daughter,” Sylvia Grover; and many friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doris; sister Janis and her husband, Edmond McCready; and nephews, Tim and Robert McCready.
