Franklin Savings Bank Foundation
helps Spruce Mountain avoid closure

Franklin Savings Bank has helped Spruce Mountain Ski Slope in Jay avert closure this winter with a $5,000 donation from its FSB Community Development Foundation.

“I’m thrilled! It’s reassuring as a volunteer that Franklin Savings Bank is so responsive to community needs,” said Spruce Mountain Ski Club President Judy Diaz. “They have always been very supportive and willing to help lend a hand.”

“We see community ski areas, such as Spruce Mountain, as important components in the well being of a community. It provides healthy, affordable, family recreation,” said Lorna Niedner, Jay Branch Manager at Franklin Savings Bank.

“That is also why Franklin Savings Bank is pleased to host a Free Ski evening for the community at Spruce Mountain, as well as Titcomb Ski Area in Farmington and Black Mountain of Maine in Rumford.”

The ski slope had a close call with closure due to the shut down of the Otis Mill, which had supplied power to the mountain.

Franklin Savings Bank is the only locally-owned bank in Franklin County. The 142-year-old bank also continues to rank as the Strongest Bank in Maine by TheStreet.com.
