Jay Middle School held its first annual fourth- and fifth-grade spelling bee on Feb. 5. Students earned their way into the bee by winning the finals during grade level spelling bees. Thirty-one students in both grades competed in the combined championship bee. After several rounds of challenging words, fifth-grader Donovan Salvati emerged as the champion. Runners up were Alana Cole and Esa Maki. The three students are pictured.
