Robert H. Dawson
1920 – 2010
CANTON — Robert H. Dawson, 89, a former resident of Leeds, died early Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Victorian Villa Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past several years.
He was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Claremont, N.H., the fifth child of John C. and Eva (Trueman) Dawson. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1939. He worked in the textile mills most of his life, retiring in 1983 from Albany International in Monmouth.
On Jan. 1, 1940, he married the woman of his dreams, Violet Gartley. She passed away from cancer in 1977. Their lives were filled with raising two sons and enjoying their dream home on Androscoggin Lake in Leeds. He enjoyed fishing, boating on the lakes in the area, horse shoes and cribbage.
He is survived by his two sons, Garnet Dawson and his wife, Noella, of Jay and Thomas Dawson; his grandson, Ryan Dawson and his fiancée, Jessica Johnson, of Livermore; and his great-grandson, Evan Dawson.
He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
