LEWISTON — The Lewiston Police Department has announced the recent graduation and appointment of a D.A.R.E. Officer.
Officer Michael Lacombe attended specialized Drug Abuse Resistance Education training, conducted Jan. 11 to 22, and is now certified as both a D.A.R.E. and School Resource Officer, and is able to teach in both elementary and middle school programs. Lacombe will take over the primary instructional functions and will be integrated with the local elementary schools.
Lacombe will replace Officer Corey Jacques in this role and Jacques will assume a position at the Lewiston Middle School as School Resource Officer, following the recent promotion of Detective William Brochu. These officers are all assigned within the Youth and Family Services Unit.
The training was given at the New Hampshire National Guard, to a class of 12 officers from various law enforcement agencies. Lacombe received recognition from his peers and was elected the class speaker.
“Mike is a seasoned police officer with strong ties to the community and schools, and will make an outstanding contribution as D.A.R.E. Officer. This position is an asset to the overall mission of the Lewiston Police,” said Chief of Police Michael Bussiere.
