NORWAY — The Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary met on Feb. 10 with President Thelma Denlinger presiding.

Ellen Snow reported that she has donated many baby items to Mitzi Sequoria of Community Services, estimated value of $995, and has donated ice skates and other equipment to the Norway Recreation Department and many items to Responsible Pet Care for their thrift shop, estimated value of $295.

The unit voted to make donations to Opportunity Farm, the Special Olympics and to Post 82 for its birthday next month.

Membership chairwoman Joyce Clifford reported that 84 members have paid their dues for the year. The unit has only seven members that have not paid for 2010.

Barbara Henley, Americanism chairwoman, reported that the flag project will be on its way as soon as she checks with the Folding Flag Project company. She also reported that she will read to second graders this week. Doing so will cover her Americanism, children and youth and education chairmanship.

Clifford also reported that the constitution and bylaws are complete and are being printed by Lee Millett.

Kim Hansen spoke on Elder Ride, a Community Concepts program. The program needs donations to help give the elderly rides and the unit voted to give a donation.

The Nominating Committee for new officers for the coming year includes Rose Moulton, Barbara Henley and Joyce Clifford.

The meeting was preceded by a chowder, pea soup and chili supper with assorted deserts, chaired by Beulah Ayer with Rose Moulton assisting.
