NORWAY – Teens in Oxford Hills are invited to the grand opening of Norway Memorial Library’s new Teen Room, from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 12. There will be music, refreshments and activities.

Stop in to hear local teen musicians Ruby DayBranch, Jascinda Mills, Sarah Burnham and the jazz fusion group Loose Change, have a healthy snack, and see the new room that has been renovated for teens.

The new space has been a long term goal of Norway Memorial Library. Last spring, the library applied for a makeover by the Maine Regional Library System and was one of five libraries selected. A visiting Makeover Team offered suggestions to help the library create a more attractive and functional space for teens. Bringing the suggestions to reality was made possible with a grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, which provided funds for new paint, furniture and lighting.

The Teen Room is designated as an after school and program space where teens can use computers, study, read, socialize and attend special teen activities. It will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
