LEWISTON — The local chapter of Club Richelieu International will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Dudley’s Restaurant at the Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant St. Local president Daniel Isabel wishes to invite all past and present members to attend for a reunion.
Regional Richelieu Governor Jean Lemire, with regional delegation from Manchester, N.H., will visit the local club to discuss the issue of dwindling membership and its lack of vitality in a town such as Lewiston, with more than 50 percent population of French ethnicity and known as a center of French culture in Maine.
Club Richelieu, founded in 1945 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is dedicated to youth fulfillment and family support in a French cultural environment. Club Richelieu has more than 300 clubs or chapters in most French-speaking countries.
The local Lewiston-Auburn club is celebrating 50 years this year, helping youth and their families and honorably representing them at yearly conventions and activities worldwide. For more information, call 783-6346.
