FARMINGTON — A Temple man was charged with drunken driving after an early-morning crash Friday that took down traffic signs on the median at Fairbanks Road and Town Farm Road.

Duke Smith, 43, of Temple was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and failure to report an accident after his vehicle went through the median at about 1 a.m. Friday. It took down several road signs as he crossed the Town Farm Road and hit a tree, Farmington Police Department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.

Smith was driving a 1999 Subaru south on Fairbanks Road when the accident occurred. Although he received several facial cuts, he refused treatment, she said.

The vehicle was demolished, according to Farmington police officer Kim Bates’ report.
