Arthur J. Forgue

1929 – 2010

LEWISTON — Arthur J. Forgue, 81, of Walnut Street, Lewiston died unexpectedly at his home on March 19.

He was born in Jackman, Feb. 15, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Elodie (Fontaine) Forgue. He attended local schools before enlisting in the Army in 1952. He proudly served his country in the Korean War and received The Korean Service Medal and 2 Bronze Service Stars for his service in the war before receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1953.

He married Claire (Prevost) Forgue on Dec. 14, 1957, and together they raised their family in Lewiston. She passed away in 2004.

He was a custodial engineer at Bates College for 20 years before retiring in 1986, and he was also a member of St. Peter’s Parish. He enjoyed fishing, football (especially the Patriots) and watching old movies. He had a great love of horses and some of his happiest moments were spent at the race track with his wife Claire.

He is survived by one son, Arthur Forgue Jr. of Waterville; four daughters, Kim Goulet and her fiancée, Rick Kenney, of Lewiston, Linda and Donna Forgue of Bangor and Debra Forgue of Westbrook; two grandchildren, Joshua R. Goulet and David A. St.Germain; one great-grandchild, Peyton St.Germain; two brothers, Raymond Forgue and his wife, Norma and Antonio Forgue; two sisters, Grace Laliberte and Lucille Pelletier; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides Claire, his wife of 47 years, he was predeceased by a son, Robert; and a sister, Joan (Forgue) Chabot.
