Laura Doucette

1915 – 2010

RUMFORD — Laura Doucette, 94, of Maple Street died unexpectedly Thursday, March 25, at her residence with her loving companion Bob Dube at her side.

She was born in Caraquet, New Brunswick, Sept. 1, 1915, a daughter of Agape and Heloise (Albert) Blanchard.

She attended St. John’s School. She was employed as floor manager for 39 years with Universal Optical Co. in Providence, R.I.

She moved to Rumford in November 1991, and has resided locally since that time. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.

She loved going fishing, traveling and working in the garden with her beloved companion, Bob. She was a member of the LeParesseux Snowshoe Club.

Surviving are her companion of 48 years, Bob Dube of Rumford; his daughter, Julie Plummer and husband, Mark; their children Trevor and Zachery, of Hermon; three nephews, Richard Hamel of Mexico, Dennis Hamel and wife, Debra, of Bridgton and Robert Hamel and wife, Marlene, of Marble, Pa.; four nieces, Claudette Hladik and husband Jim, of Mooresville, N.C., Iona Medina of North Carolina, Connie Newman and husband, Walter, of Dixfield and Dianne Agny of Westchester, Pa.; and three great-nephews, Bill Wickstrom of Rhode Island, David Wickstrom of Westchester, Pa., and Steven Wickstrom.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Arthur Doucette; her sister, Grace Hamel; and a brother, Leo Blanchard.
