FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue Middle School students showed off their talents competing in the second annual Talent Show on Tuesday at the school.

Auditions were held this year because there were so many students interested in performing. The top 16 acts, ranging from individual singers and bands to Broadway-style acts, competed in front of friends and family vying for the top three prizes.

Teacher Fred Conlogue emceed the event, changing outfits between every act. After choosing the top 16 acts, a dress rehearsal was held a couple weeks before the show where acts were fine-tuned and the students were given suggestions to help improve their performances, he said.

The Saddleback community at the school sponsored the school-wide event, raising money for field trips and extra educational opportunities, Conlogue said.

Singing and playing, “Last Night,” the band YTR, with members Alex Pane, Zach Cummings, Eli Cohen, Noah LePage, Luke Wooden, took first place.

Second place winner was guitarist Rhys Simpson.

Third place was awarded to a crew performing “Summer Nights” from “Grease.” The group included Courtney Austin, Dustin Richards, Rileigh Blanchet, Kiana Thompson, Lucy Celon, Andrew Pratt, Mikayla Oswald, Nick Hickey, Amber Cusson, Nate Backus, Emmy Senecal and Joe King.
