AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A May trial date has been set for the second of two men charged in a grisly machete attack on a father and his 10-year-old daughter.

Twenty-two-year-old Daniel Fortune is charged with aggravated attempted murder, attempted murder, robbery, burglary and conspiracy. Jury selection is to begin May 4 in Somerset County Superior Court in Skowhegan, where the trial was moved at the request of his lawyer.

His foster brother, 19-year-old Leo Hylton, already has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for his role in the attack that maimed the father and daughter nearly two years ago in Pittston.

Fortune was one of two men who’d been charged previously in connection with the theft of a safe containing cash and rare coins from the victims’ home.
