Alvah E. ‘Don’ Donnell Sr.
1924 – 2010

WEST PARIS — Alvah E. (Don) Donnell Sr., 86, of West Paris, formerly of Augusta, Pittston and Pownal, passed away Friday, March 26, at the Ledgeview Living Center.

He was born in Searsmont , May 19, 1924, to Alvah and Pearl Fowles Donnell. He faithfully served his country in the Army during World War II in the European Theater, 1942 to 1946. He retired after 25 years at Yorktown Paper Mill in Gardiner. He received honorary membership in the American Legion Post 68 of Gray after 25 years of dedicated service. He really enjoyed his woodworking shop and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Rowena Tripp Donnell of West Paris; his brother, William Buckle of West Gardiner; his four sons, Wilson and Alvah Jr., both of Pittston, John of Palermo and Hugh of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Sharon Donnell of Gardiner; two stepsons, Wayne Tripp of Oxford and Rodney Hall of Lewiston; a stepdaughter, Faye Smith of Oxford; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather, Wilson Buckle; five other siblings; his daughter, Sharkie Coombs of New York; a stepdaughter, Joanne Tripp of Lewiston; a stepson, Jerry Tripp of Lewiston; and Rodney Hall of Oxford.
