George E. Raymond
1933 – 2010

AUBURN — George Edward Raymond of Auburn, passed away March 27, at home, after a courageous battle with esophagus cancer. He is now with his beloved son, Jim, who died in 1998.

He was born in Auburn, March 25, 1933, son of Omer Raymond and Desneige Drouin Raymond. He attended Lewiston schools and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He served in the Korean War and Japan.

On July 4, 1955, he married the former Rita Obie at St. Louis Church in Auburn. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Cindy and Jim.

He was employed at Pioneer Plastics for 30 years. After retirement, he worked as maintenance man at Motel 6 for five years. He enjoyed many things in his lifetime, especially traveling, camping and building and fixing things.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, one of his greatest accomplishments. He was a member of Holy Cross Church of Prince of Peace Parish.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rita; his beloved daughter, Cindy Raymond and husband, Allen Martin; grandchildren, Kandice Sage and husband, Chris and son, Christopher, James Raymond Jr., John Raymond and wife, Abigail, Stasha Heino and Samantha Heino; one sister, Yvette Potvin and husband, Fern; stepbrother, Louis Jean and wife, Claire; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Raymond, Betty Dallaire and husband, Norm, Linda Agren and husband, Don; and brother-in-law, Gerard Obie and wife, Lorraine.

He was predeceased by his son, James Sr. and wife, Sara in 1998; his father in 1960; his mother in 2000; stepfather, Conrad Jean in 1994; two sisters, Lorraine Boisvert and husband, Armand and Joyce Chaisson and husband, George; brother, Bert Raymond; stepsister, Constance Michaud and husband, Marcel; mother and father-in-law, Roland and Melvina Obie.  

A special thank you to nurses and aides at Androscoggin Hospice for the excellent care given to George so he could die at home as he wished. Also to his wonderful and caring doctors, Pamela Ross, Nicholette Erickson, Mark Lanzieri and Michael Sivulich.
