FRYEBURG – The over-60 bowling crowd at Saco Valley Sports Center has been racking up the state titles in the last couple of months.
Last month Lucy Marrow and Bernadine Dubois won the Sr. Ladies Mixed Doubles Championship, held at Newport Bowling Center.
One month later, they teamed up with Jim Layne and Tom Turner to win the Mixed Team Championships at Good Time Lanes in Lisbon. This was a 5-string event with handicaps added. Turner was high bowler with a score of 772, followed by Dubois 738, Merrow 678 and Layne 671 for a combined team score of 2,859, edging out the second-place team by only three pins.
All four bowlers also made the top 12 in the all-events category and will compete in a championship event April 7 in Augusta.
