LEWISTON — The April Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce breakfast program will feature a panel of local employers discussing “Workplace Health and Wellness” — how their companies have promoted health in the workplace by implementing Healthy Androscoggin’s Work Healthy principles and working collaboratively with Healthy Androscoggin’s staff. Panelists include Jane Morrison of the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project, Wendy Webster of Panolam Industries (Pioneer Plastics) and Celine Gather of the Thayer Corp. The breakfast will be held at Lost Valley Ski Area on Lost Valley Road in Auburn at 7:15 a.m. on April 8.

Healthy Androscoggin was created in 1995 as Tobacco Free L-A, a grassroots group of community members and organizations working to reduce tobacco use in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area. Since then, it has grown to include nearly 300 coalition members and more than 2,300 subscribers and has broadened its focus to include exercising, eating well and youth substance use. Its intent is a community environment supportive of healthy lifestyles by promoting four main goals: support tobacco-free lifestyles, prevent youth substance use, encourage physical activity, and promote healthy eating. This Chamber breakfast is sponsored by Camden National Bank and Glacial Energy.

Chamber members in the “spotlight” this month are Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care, Dragonfly Trips, Five County Credit Union, Gold Star Honeybees, Morgan Stanley—Salvatore Bonetti and Relay for Life.
