AUBURN — The Sexual Assault Crisis Center is hosting its 10th annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner on Saturday, April 10.  The event is at Martindale Country Club in Auburn, beginning at 6 p.m.

This year’s Celebrity Waiters include Senator Margaret Craven, Debbie Bodwell from RMS Mortgage, Det. Bill Gagne from the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department, Chip Morrison from the Chamber of Commerce, and Jon LaBonte from Androscoggin Land Trust and the Androscoggin County Commissioners. Also, Jan Barrett from the Ware Street Inn; Jeff Peterson from WGME; Tom Peters, local attorney; Kim Braley, RN, from St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center; Steve Huber from Huber and Associates. Additional waiters are Mike Hamlyn from Downeast Machines, Keith Baldi from WMTW, Sgt. Marc Robitaille from the Lewiston Police Department, Barry Schmieks from the Auburn Police Department, and Jaime Ricker from the Sexual Assault Crisis Center.

Waiters will be assigned to a table and will share their talents with the crowd. Anticipated performances include Margaret Craven dancing an authentic Irish jig, Barry Schmieks singing, and Jan Barrett demonstrating how to make one of her special recipes. Music for the event will be provided by Mark Peillet from Music Reflections in Auburn.

Also included in the event are a silent and a live auction. The live auction will include a gas grill, an official Red Sox baseball autographed by Ramon Ramirez, a Maineiacs team jersey, an official Patriot’s football autographed by Adalius Thomas, and hand-painted children’s chairs. Silent auction items include a quilted wall hanging, gift certificates to local restaurants and services, SeaDogs tickets, unique jewelry, baskets and whoopee pies.

The event is being sponsored by Liberty Mutual, Central Maine Medical Center, Mechanics Savings Bank and the Sun Journal. Special recognition will be given to Liberty Mutual, CMMC, and the SunJournal for their 10 years of sponsorship of the event.

This year’s event is also honoring the Sexual Assault Crisis Center’s 25 years of service to survivors of sexual assault, sexual abuse, stalking and sexual harassment. SACC services include a 24 hour response line, support groups, drop in programs at local high schools and elder housing units, accompaniment to local hospitals, law enforcement and court proceedings, outreach services and school and community awareness and prevention presentations.
