HARRISON — A Casco man was flown to a Lewiston hospital with life-threatening injuries after the motorcycle he was driving struck a car head-on on Edes Falls Road on Saturday.

Craig Bachaud, 46, was riding a 1985 Honda south at about 5 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a slight curve, said Capt. Jeff Davis of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcycle crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Volkswagen sedan, Davis said. Bachaud was thrown from the bike and landed in a ravine on the south side of the road. He was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center.

The driver of the Volkswagen was Merrill Rollins, 64, of Harrison. Rollins was not injured; however, his vehicle sustained heavy damage, Davis said.

The accident was being investigated by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
