MECHANIC FALLS — RSU 16 Adult Education, Mechanic Falls, Minot, Poland, is offering ATV and boating safety courses this spring. Courses will be taught by volunteers of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Participants will learn how to properly operate and maintain an ATV. Laws and responsibilities, map and compass, environmental/landowner ethics, personal safety, first aid and survival skills will be covered.

Exam and 100 percent attendance required. Children must be at least 10 and if 15 or under, must be accompanied by an adult throughout the three-night course. It will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, May 11, 12 and 13. Course fee is $5.

Boating safety will teach operating and maintaining a boat. The course is state approved. Successful completion will result in a certificate. Exam and 100 percent attendance is required. The course will be offered twice: from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, April 13, 14 and 15, or from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15. Fee is $5.
