American Legion Post 22 of Lewiston hosted a guest recently. George Devoe of Lewiston, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, shared his experiences in the invasion of Iwo Jima, which started on Feb. 19, 1945, and ended on March 25, 1945. He showed an album of pictures. Jerry DerBoghosian, who served on the U.S.S. Canberra in the pacific theater, gave an account of the bombardment of Iwo Jima along with the U.S.S. Quincy on July 4, 1944. From left are Donald T. Dube, chaplain; DerBoghosian, adjutant; Devoe; Raymond Allen, commander; and Arthur Paradis, sergeant-at-arms.
