MATTHEWS, N.C. – Andrew P. Girardin, 45, went to be with his Lord and King on April 1 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 6,1964. He is the third child of Robert and Madeleine (Grenier) Girardin. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1982. He attended USM prior to joining the U.S. Navy. He served his country as a nuclear reactor operator for six years aboard the nuclear attack submarine USS Trepang SSN674.

 While stationed in Portsmouth, N.H., he met his wife Joni (Brady) Girardin. They were married on Oct. 12, 1991 in Rye, N.H. Andrew was the proud father of two loving daughters, Shayla Marie and Tirzah Ann.

 Andy was a devout man of God, quoting scripture until his very end. His kindness, patience and love was felt by all who knew him. He played the bagpipes and was the pipe major for the Ceol na Gael Band. They played regularly, including an appearance at the Daytona 500. His hobbies were boating, camping, fishing and a deep love of the ocean. He was a certified deep sea diver.

 He was I.T. manager for the City of Charlotte, N.C. and resided in Matthews, N.C. with his wife and children.

 He is survived by his wife, Joni and daughters, Shayla and Tirzah of Matthews, N.C.; his parents, Robert and Madeleine of Lewiston; and five siblings, LuAnn and Tony Labbe of Lewiston, Michael and Barbara of Auburn, Jennifer and Dan Perry of Hallowell, Valerie and Michael Racine of Lewiston and Gregory of Nashua, N.H. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
