MINOT — The Minot Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at the Minot Town Office. David Sargent will be the guest speaker. Sargent, a native of Auburn, is author of “River Views,” a twice monthly column of Androscoggin Valley history in the Lewiston Sun Journal.
He was a general assignment reporter for the Lewiston Daily Sun in the 1960s and he founded, edited and published Business Focus, a monthly news journal, in the 1990s.
Sargent will speak on the life of one of Minot’s notable citizens, Crosby Noyes. Noyes was born and raised in Center Minot. As a young man, he went to New York City and became a correspondent. Later, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he became owner of the Washington Star.
