AUBURN – Normand A. Mercier, Sr., 60, of Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, April 8, at the Hospice House, with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with a long illness.

He was born in Lac Megantic, Canada on Dec. 3, 1949, the son of Gaston and Irene (Guay) Mercier. He spent most of his life working hard in the woods as a lumberjack and always loved spending his time outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Alice (Thomas) Mercier; his son, Normand, Jr.: his daughter, Melissa Ranger and husband, Reggie; his sister, Suzanne Tobey; his brother, Roger Mercier, Sr.; his four grandchildren, Natasha, Tamesha, Jeramia and Odysseus; his great-grandson, Jonathan Jr.: and by his dog, El Diablo.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Rivard and his staff and also the entire staff at the Hospice House.
