ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Gerard A. Dutil, 62, of Ormond Beach, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, March 30.

Gerard was born in Lewiston on June 22, 1947, only son of the late Raymond and Rita (Cloutier) Dutil.

Gerry taught history at St. Peter’s School, in his home state of Maine, for 12 years and worked in an ice cream business with his father-in-law, Roger Simard. Gerry owned his own business, Dutil’s Insurance, selling for Allstate for 18 years before his retirement.

He was married to Sandra Simard for 29 years until her death in 2001. They leave behind four children: Kevin (Stacey) and their sons, Nathan and Noah; Christina (Eric) Impson and their daughter, Katelyn; Eric (Nichole) and their daughters, Morghan and Madison; and Todd (Renee) and their sons, Jared and Ethan.

On July 20, 2002, Gerry married Ann-Marie Doukas, who he leaves behind to cherish his memory. He also leaves two stepchildren, Roger Doukas and Joyce (Segan) Areibi, and their children, Aaliyah and Amna.

Gerry loved his family, was a hard worker and a good provider. First and foremost, Gerry loved the Lord and served in the choir at First Baptist Church of Daytona in Florida and his home church, East Auburn Baptist, in Maine. He loved to listen and sing along with the Gaithers every morning at 10 o’clock. At 10:10 a.m. on March 30, a song was being sung about heaven when Gerry, although in a coma, opened his eyes and drew his last breath.

In addition to his beloved wife, children and grandchildren, Gerry is also survived by his uncle, on his mother’s side, Dr. Wilfed Cloutier, and many cousins.

His wife, Ann, thought it most unusual when his last nurse, Anne Beaulieu, told her that Gerry had been her teacher years ago in Maine.
