DIXFIELD — Selectmen and residents will have a chance Monday to learn the possible effects of tax incentive financing if a wind turbine project is approved for the ridge that includes Col. Holman Mountain.

The informational session is set to begin after the 5 p.m. regular selectmen’s meeting at Ludden Memorial Library.

The session had been originally scheduled for February, but had to be canceled.

Mathew Eddy, executive director of Eaton Peabody Consulting Group of Augusta, will discuss the impact if up to 22 turbines are built on the ridge by Patriot Renewables LLC.

The project is in the early stages. A meteorological tower is currently gauging wind strength. An extensive Maine Department of Environmental Protection permitting process must also be completed.

The town has hired the consulting firm to provide information on tax incentive financing with funds provided by the Quincy, Mass., company of up to $10,000.

For the past few months, a subcommittee of selectmen have been working on a wind power ordinance that will eventually be acted on by residents. That subcommittee’s next meeting is set for 10 a.m. April 23.

In a related matter, at the selectmen’s meeting Monday, the board is scheduled to act on a six-month extension of a wind energy facility moratorium ordinance after a public hearing. The moratorium was initially put into place on Oct. 14, 2009, and may be extended for up to six months so an ordinance governing wind power development can be developed and enacted.

In other matters at the board meeting, selectmen will call for nominations for Distinguished Citizen of the Year. The person chosen will be honored at the May 27 annual town meeting.

Also up for discussion or action are:

• Distribution of Harlow Trust Fund monies;

• An update on progress the town has made on Bureau of Labor Standards violations;

• Reports by the water and public works departments;

• A safety enhancement grant; and

• Water Advisory Committee information.
