BETHEL — Gould Academy has hired Jay Riley as dean of athletics and co-curricular programs.

Riley has served on the academy’s board of trustees since 2003, and chaired Gould’s 2006 Strategic Planning Committee.

Prior to this position, he spent 30 years in the business world, including the medical device industry as president of Disetronic Sterile Products Inc. and Micro Med Inc. His volunteer work includes service on the Governor’s Commission on Child Care and Early Education in New Hampshire, as well as other education-based, nonprofit boards.

He is a graduate of Bates College, where he majored in English and was a member of the national foreign language honor society Phi Sigma Iota. He received a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Prior to Bates, he attended Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Mass.

He and is wife have three children.
