LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County Multiple Sclerosis Walk Committee has announced that the 2010 Multiple Sclerosis Walk will be held on Saturday, April 24, at Lewiston High School. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. in the gym and the walk will start at 10 a.m., rain or shine.

The five-mile course extends through the Bates College area and shorter walk routes are available for those who prefer. Breakfast and lunch will be provided as well as refreshments throughout the walk route. Door prizes and raffle prizes will also be handed out at the event. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the walk and the drawing for the prizes will be held immediately following the conclusion of the walk.

All monies raised will help with research, client services and advocacy for those affected by multiple sclerosis.

There are several support groups statewide to assist MS patients and their families. The Lewiston/Auburn Self Help Group and the Lewiston/Auburn Care Partners Support Group both meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month, at the LePage Conference Center at St. Mary’s Hospital, 99 Campus Ave.

A second support group will begin on Friday, May 14, at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave. For more information on the groups, visit www.msmaine.org.
