MEXICO — The Mexico Recreation Department has been hit once again by thieves.

Chief James Theriault said Recreation Department Director Greg Arsenault reported Wednesday that someone broke into the storage shed at the Mexico Recreation Park located on Route 17 and took a weed-whacker valued at $350, a booster cable and a tractor battery, both valued at $70. The door was broken to gain entrance.

He said the burglary and theft took place sometime within the past two weeks.

The town-run recreation program has been hit several times during the past year. Last fall, in separate incidents, someone made off with an industrial-type vacuum cleaner, a weed-whacker, and a gas can from the recreation building located in town. None of those items were ever recovered.

Police have no leads on the latest thefts.
