AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Authorities in Maine are seeking a former special education teacher and coach at Gardiner Area High School who is facing misdemeanor sex charges involving a high school student.

A prosecutor says an arrest warrant was issued April 1 for 41-year-old Matthew B. Dineen of Gardiner.

District Attorney Evert Fowle is urging Dineen to turn himself in.

Authorities say Dineen inappropriately touched a female student.

Dineen’s attorney Jason Jabar says Dineen will answer the charges.

The charges allege the behavior occurred on three separate between Oct. 1, 2009, and Feb. 28, 2010.

Dineen has since resigned his job.
